Are the plants in the Library real?

Answer

Yes, almost all of the plants in Greenlease Library are real and tended to by several "green thumb" librarians.

The library staff at Greenlease Library REALLY like plants. We find they make the library feel more welcoming and relaxing (oxygen anyone?).

Our most famous plant is the huge fern by the Library Service Desk. She has been named "LaFern" in memory of our Library companion, Lavearne Shannon, who maintained our building for 20 years and passed away in 2022.

Yes, you can touch the plants (and take a pic with LaFern).
